Brief History of Japan
Handball Association
Japan Handball Association was established in February 1938,
and it was in September 1952 when it became a full member
of the Unternational Handball Federation.Number of players
across the country is approximately 100.000 with 6000 teams
in total, coveringfrom primary school pupils to Masters (women+35
and men +40). Amongst them so-called top teams are about 20
men's and 10 women's teams plus university teams men/women
respectively.Japan has participated in the Women's Junior
World Championship since 1985 in a row and has ranked amongst
the best 10 teams several times, so our target at the WC 2003
Macedonia is a medal.

1985 Women's Junior World Championship in Korea - 12th place
1987 Women's Junior World Championship in Denmark - 15th place
1989 Women's Junior World Championship in Nigeria - 10th place
1991 Women's Junior World Championship in France - 13th place
1993 Women's Junior World Championship in Bulgaria - 12th
place
1995 Women's Junior World Championship in Brasil - 12th place
1997 Women's Junior World Championship in Ivory Cost - 8th
place
1999 Women's Junior World Championship in China - 19th place
2001 Women's Junior World Championship in Hungary - 20th place
